The Cat & The Swift – A short film

A short film following a group of people who came together to create a puppetry performance about swifts, discovering creativity, community and a deeper connection to the natural world along the way. Featuring Fenn, Oak, Emmy, Ursula and Deborah.

We are super excited to share this short film that follows the making of that performance, from first ideas to final show.

Swifts spend almost their entire lives in the air, yet their numbers are rapidly declining across the UK.

This film follows a group of young puppeteers and performers as they came together to create an original piece of theatre inspired by these extraordinary birds. Through workshops, collaboration and performance, they explore both the story of swifts and the power of creativity to bring people together.

What began as a community arts project becomes something more: a shared experience of learning, making and reconnecting — with nature, with each other and with a sense of joy.

Many people are unaware of the challenges swifts face and how small actions can help protect them. To learn more about swifts and how to help protect them, you can start by looking up local conservation groups in your area.
